Lewis Hamilton Wins To Close Title Gap
Lewis Hamilton secured his first grand prix victory with Ferrari in Barcelona on June 26, and now aims to close the title gap on Andrea Kimi Antonelli at the Austrian Grand Prix.
Hamilton's victory in Barcelona marked a significant turning point in his season, as he emerged as a potential title contender.
The seven-time world champion is now 41 points behind current leader Andrea Kimi Antonelli of Mercedes, who came away empty-handed in Spain following his retirement in the closing laps of the race due to an engine failure.
And Hamilton looks to add another win to his tally and pose a serious threat to Antonelli's title ambitions as the Briton chases a record eighth world championship.
The Austrian Grand Prix will take place from June 26-28, with Free Practice 1 (FP1) starting on Friday at 1:30 p.m. local time (CEST), followed by Free Practice 2 (FP2) later in the day at 5 p.m.
The 71-lap race will get underway at 3 p.m. on June 28, and Hamilton will be looking to capitalize on his recent form and close the gap on Antonelli.
Max Verstappen, the driver with the most victories and pole positions at the Red Bull Ring, will also be hoping to challenge for his first win of the season on Red Bull's home turf.
George Russell, who grabbed second place in Spain following his teammate's retirement, will also be hoping to reclaim his form this weekend and get back into title contention.
The Red Bull Ring F1 Circuit Stats show that the circuit length is 4.326km, with a race distance of 307.018km and 71 laps.
Oscar Piastri holds the fastest lap time at the Red Bull Ring, with a time of 1:07.924 in 2025.
Lando Norris took the win at the Austrian Grand Prix last year, and McLaren will be looking to get back on top of the podium through Piastri or Norris this weekend.
