Lydia Ko Wins Gold at Paris 2024 Olympics

2026-06-24 · Lydia Ko · Player Focus

Lydia Ko won Olympic gold in the women's golf tournament at Paris 2024, finishing two strokes ahead of Esther Henseleit.

Ko held a narrow lead and earned the title with a birdie on No. 18, finishing with a 1-under 71.

She started the final round tied with Switzerland's Morgane Metraux.

Ko carded a bogey on her first hole but made three birdies on the front nine.

Ko became the first golfer to earn all three Olympic medals in golf, having won bronze at Tokyo 2020 and silver at Rio 2016.

She qualified for the LPGA Hall of Fame with the gold-medal finish.

Ko made par on her next three holes after a triple bogey on No. 13.

"The fans have been awesome and I feel like they pushed me to just keep working hard and be confident and trust myself," Ko told NBC.

Ko shed tears of joy as she watched her birdie put drop into the hole on No. 18.

Henseleit carded a 6-under 66 on Saturday, the best final-round score of the field.

With her victory, Ko sealed her spot atop the podium, finishing two strokes better than silver medalist Esther Henseleit of Germany.

Ko's win marked a **dream come true** for the golfer, who had previously won bronze and silver medals.

China's Xi Yu Lin finished at 7-under for a bronze medal, carding a final-round 69.
