Magic Johnson Spotted in Montenegro: NBA Legend Returns to Tivat for Summer Yacht Trip

2026-07-14 · Magic Johnson · Player Focus

Magic Johnson, the five-time NBA champion and Hall of Famer, is back in Montenegro this summer, sharing photos from a dinner in Porto Montenegro, Tivat. On 10 July 2026, Johnson posted on Instagram with former Chicago Bulls player Dalibor Bagarić and his family, calling the evening “beautiful” after a meal at Gallardo Steakhouse.

Johnson’s Instagram post showed the group strolling Porto Montenegro’s marina promenade, with Montenegrin flags in the background. The NBA legend traveled with actress Vanessa Bell Calloway and Star Jones, two of his regular companions on the annual Adriatic yacht trip. The post racked up thousands of likes within hours, confirming his presence in the Bay of Kotor.

Porto Montenegro has become a fixture on Johnson’s six-week Mediterranean route, a tradition he’s kept for years. The marina’s deep berths and luxury amenities-reportedly costing over a million dollars per week to charter-match the scale of visitors like Johnson. Montenegro’s high-end appeal has grown, with the country hosting the EU-Western Balkans Summit in June and set to stage the World Travel Awards Europe Gala in October.

Dalibor Bagarić, Johnson’s dinner companion, played three seasons for the Chicago Bulls after being drafted in 2000. His wife Jasmina runs businesses in hospitality and fashion, while their children joined the group. Bagarić is part of a Balkan basketball lineage that stretches from Dražen Petrović to Nikola Jokić, linking Montenegro’s own NBA players-like Nikola Vučević and Nikola Mirotić-to the league’s global reach.

Johnson’s yacht tour typically spans six weeks, with stops across France, Italy, Greece, and the Adriatic. Porto Montenegro has been a repeat destination, including visits in 2024 and 2025. The Bay of Kotor’s scenic backdrop and Montenegro’s rising profile among elite travelers make it an easy return for the Hall of Famer.
