Marc Marquez Reveals 2027 MotoGP Bike Change He'd Make

Marc Marquez has spoken about his first test of the 850cc MotoGP bikes, revealing a change he'd make to improve racing. The reigning MotoGP world champion tested Ducati's 850cc prototype at Brno last month.

What happened?

Marc Marquez tested Ducati's 850cc prototype at Brno last month, following the Czech Grand Prix. He spoke about his experience on the *Soy Blak* YouTube channel, sharing his thoughts on the new bikes.

Why it matters for Marc Marquez

The new 850cc MotoGP bikes will be introduced in 2027, with a radical overhaul of the technical regulations. The current 1000cc engine formula will be replaced, and ride height devices will be banned. Pirelli will also become the official tyre supplier, taking over from Michelin.

What comes next?

Marc Marquez has already signed up for the new regulations cycle, penning a new two-year deal to remain at Ducati to the end of 2028. He will be joined by current KTM rider Pedro Acosta. At the summer break, Marquez has brushed aside injury struggles to reduce a 102-point deficit in the championship to just 18 points after scoring victories in Hungary, Czechia, and Germany.

The idea behind these regulations is to improve safety, while making the on-track product better. However, the aero regulations have already come in for criticism for not going far enough. Marquez believes that reducing the aerodynamics even more would make the bikes more suitable for racing.

"I tested it at Brno," he said of the 2027 bike. "It's not as fast, but I don't think the fans will notice. The biggest change is with the tyres. I was hoping they'd reduce the aerodynamics even more. I would've liked them to decrease it more."

Marquez has already adapted to the new bikes, and he believes that the fans will not notice the difference. However, he thinks that reducing the aerodynamics would make the bikes more suitable for racing, allowing for more group races like in the Moto3.

"It's harder in the MotoGP because you lose downforce and the bike performs worse. You have to get used to it. Every era has its pros and cons," he said.

The new regulations will bring a significant change to the MotoGP, and Marc Marquez is already adapting to the new bikes. He believes that reducing the aerodynamics would make the bikes more suitable for racing, and he is excited to see how the new bikes will perform in the upcoming season.
