Martin Zubimendi Set to Join Arsenal in £51m Move

2026-06-24 · Martin Zubimendi · Transfer

Martin Zubimendi is set to undergo a medical at Arsenal ahead of his £51m move from Real Sociedad.

The Spain international will sign a long-term contract with the Gunners.

Arsenal have activated Zubimendi's €60m release clause, with all relevant documents signed ahead of the transfer.

Zubimendi was Mikel Arteta's number one target for the summer transfer window, following Jorginho's exit for Flamengo on a free transfer.

The 26-year-old's arrival will be a huge boost to Arsenal, who have tracked Zubimendi for several months. Liverpool failed with a bid to sign the Spaniard last summer.

The BBC have confirmed that Zubimendi's medical will take place imminently, with full agreement between Sociedad and Arsenal on the terms of the transfer.

An announcement will be made once the medical examinations have been completed.

It is expected the deal will be finalised before Zubimendi's involvement in this summer's Nations League finals with Spain.

He will reunite with former Sociedad teammates Martin Odegaard and Mikel Merino at the Emirates.

The Gunners are also pursuing a centre-forward, amid interest in RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko and Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres.

Zubimendi's move to Arsenal will be a significant signing for the club, as they look to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.

Thomas Partey's future is also unclear, with the Ghana international yet to extend his contract that expires next month.

Arsenal's summer transfer window is shaping up to be an exciting one, with Zubimendi's signing set to be the first of many.

The transfer fee of £51m is a significant investment for Arsenal, but one that could pay off in the long run.

Zubimendi's skills and experience will be a valuable asset to the team, and his signing is a statement of intent from the club.

As the summer transfer window heats up, Arsenal fans will be eagerly awaiting the official announcement of Zubimendi's signing.

The Gunners are looking to make a push for the top of the Premier League table, and Zubimendi's arrival could be the catalyst for a successful season.
