Maverick Viñales blasts Tech3 MotoGP criticism amid injury crisis

Maverick Viñales has ripped into the Tech3 MotoGP team, accusing them of offering only criticism as his shoulder injury sidelines him at the German Grand Prix.

Viñales finished last in the sprint race on 17 June at the Sachsenring before retiring from the main event on 18 June while running at the back. He cited a lack of strength and an uncooperative bike as the reasons for his struggles. “I don’t have any strength on the bike; I couldn’t help but go wide at every turn,” he told the Spanish press.

The 10-time MotoGP race winner says his relationship with Tech3 has turned sour. He claims the team provides no support, only criticism, leaving him feeling “like a stranger.” Viñales added: “Right now, I need support from the team, but all I get is criticism. It’s really hard to keep going.”

Viñales insists he signed a deal with KTM to stay at Tech3 for 2027, only for the Austrian manufacturer to declare it void. The move came after KTM opted against promoting him to its factory squad amid concerns over his fitness following a shoulder injury sustained in Germany last season.

Viñales underwent surgery earlier this season after metalwork dislodged in his shoulder. His surgeon told him he won’t be fully fit until the Indonesian Grand Prix in October. He’s now considering seeking help from doctors who treated Marc Márquez’s arm injuries. “I don’t even know if it’s fixable,” he admitted. “I’ve considered putting myself in the hands of Marc’s doctors.” Viñales plans to spend the summer training in Austria with Red Bull.
