Maverick Viñales Criticizes KTM

2026-06-26 · Maverick Viñales · Player Focus

Maverick Viñales has launched a fierce attack on KTM, stating the Austrian manufacturer left him in uncertainty about his future.

Viñales expressed his frustration, saying KTM should have released him immediately once it was clear he was no longer in the frame for a spot in the factory team.

The Spaniard found out through the media that Pedro Acosta would be carrying out the Pirelli test in Brno, which he claims was previously promised to him.

Guenther Steiner, CEO of the KTM Tech3 MotoGP team, disagrees with Viñales' comments, emphasizing that performance is everything in MotoGP.

Steiner believes Viñales' criticism is harsh, given KTM's patience with him despite poorer performances.

Steiner points out that if Viñales had performed like he did at the beginning of last year, there wouldn't have been a problem re-signing him.

The Italian stresses that he has nothing against Viñales personally but finds his remarks unfair.

Viñales' future in MotoGP remains uncertain, with KTM holding an option on him until July.

Steiner's response highlights the importance of performance in the sport, and it remains to be seen how this situation will unfold for Viñales and KTM.
