Maverick Viñales Fights for Podium in 2025 Qatar MotoGP

2026-06-24 · Maverick Viñales · Player Focus

Maverick Viñales briefly led the 2025 Qatar MotoGP before a tyre pressure penalty cost him a podium finish, ultimately dropping him to 14th place.

The 2025 Qatar MotoGP saw Marc Marquez win and regain the World Championship lead, with Maverick Viñales initially in the lead on his Tech3 KTM RC 16.

Maverick Viñales had trouble adapting to the KTM in pre-season but found his rhythm in Qatar.

He was in the lead for a substantial portion of the race, alongside Franco Morbidelli.

A 16-second penalty for not maintaining minimum tyre pressure for 60 percent of the race stripped Maverick Viñales of his second-place finish.

This penalty dropped him to 14th place, behind every other KTM rider in the standings.

Maverick Viñales remained optimistic, saying he would "treat this result as a win".

Marc Marquez has regained the World Championship lead, trailed by his brother Alex and teammate Francesco Bagnaia.

The next race weekend will be at Jerez in Spain on April 25-27, where Maverick Viñales will look to improve his standings.

Maverick Viñales is currently outside the top positions, but his performance in Qatar shows promise for the rest of the season.

Maverick Viñales will aim to maintain his rhythm on the Tech3 KTM RC 16 and challenge for podium finishes in upcoming races.

He will face tough competition from Marc Marquez, Alex Marquez, and Francesco Bagnaia, but his determination and optimism could drive him to success.

The 2025 MotoGP season is shaping up to be an exciting one, with Maverick Viñales playing a key role in the championship battle.
