Beirer, a former motocross rider and key figure in KTM’s MotoGP project, admitted that Viñales has been vocal about his situation. However, he emphasized that the door remains open for the Spaniard. *“We told him there would still be a place for him, but we couldn’t tell him exactly what that role would be,”* Beirer explained at the Sachsenring on July 10, 2026. The KTM boss also noted that Viñales’ recovery from injury has been slower than expected, affecting his performance.

Viñales’ contract negotiations have been complicated by his inconsistent form since returning from injury. KTM had initially hoped to sign him as a factory rider, but his struggles have led to hesitation.
