Maverick Viñales vents fury at KTM after another MotoGP disaster in Germany

Maverick Viñales has hit out at KTM’s Tech3 squad after another disastrous outing at the Sachsenring, where his MotoGP struggles reached a new low.

The 31-year-old Spaniard, a two-time Yamaha title challenger, retired in last place at the German GP on 13 July, extending his worst season yet. With no top-11 finishes in 2025, Viñales admitted his motivation is fading fast.

What happened at Sachsenring?

Viñales pulled out of the race after 12 laps, his bike crippled by a lack of power and a machine he described as unforgiving. The result marked his fourth DNF of the year and left him 11th in the standings: a chasm away from the form that once made him a title threat.

Speaking to media after the race, Viñales was blunt. *“Nothing helps me. Now I need the team’s support, but instead I only get a beating,”* he said. *“It’s very hard to keep pushing when you’re in pain and unmotivated. The bike isn’t easy to ride, and I have no power.”*

Why Viñales is pointing fingers at KTM

Viñales’ frustration isn’t just about the bike. In a rare public row with team bosses, he claimed Tech3’s leadership: including CEO Guenther Steiner: has turned hostile when he needed backing most.

*“Just when I need a push, it feels like they’re putting a foot down my neck,”* Viñales said. *“I don’t even know if this is fixable.”*

Steiner fired back in the Dutch GP paddock, telling GPBlog that Viñales’ performances no longer match the standard expected at KTM. *“This is a performance-based business,”* Steiner said. *“Maverick isn’t delivering what he did when he joined. KTM has been patient, but that only goes so far.”*

Is this the end of Viñales’ MotoGP career?

Viñales’ future looks bleak. KTM’s factory squad has already named Alex Márquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio for 2027, while Tech3’s 2026 lineup remains unclear. General manager Pit Beirer suggested Viñales’ issues won’t be resolved elsewhere.

The Spaniard now has four weeks to regroup before the British GP, but his options are narrowing. *“I thought Marc Márquez’s doctors could help,”* he admitted. *“But the surgeon told me I won’t be fully healed until Indonesia on 11 October.”*

Viñales plans to spend the summer training in Austria with Red Bull, though his confidence is crumbling. *“I’m trying to figure out what to do,”* he said. *“But it’s frustrating when you can’t ride at 100% and the bike fights you every corner.”*

What comes next for Maverick Viñales?

Viñales’ 2025 season is a shadow of his peak. Once a 10-time race winner and 2013 Moto3 champion, he now stares at the exit ramp after two barren years at KTM.

With no clear path to a factory ride and Tech3’s patience wearing thin, his next move could define the rest of his career. A strong finish in Silverstone might delay the inevitable: but after Sachsenring, even Viñales’ trademark resilience looks shaky.
