Micah Parsons Faces Mid-Season Return as Packers Eye Haason Reddick

2026-07-20 · Micah Parsons · Player Focus

Micah Parsons will miss at least the first half of the 2026 NFL season due to a knee injury, raising concerns about the Green Bay Packers' defensive lineup. The two-time Pro Bowler's delayed return has prompted discussions about potential reinforcements, including former Philadelphia Eagle Haason Reddick.

What Happened to Micah Parsons?

Parsons suffered a knee injury during the 2025 season, forcing him to miss the playoffs. Despite his confidence in a full recovery, the Packers are prioritizing his long-term health over rushing him back. The team expects him to return no earlier than mid-October, leaving a significant gap in their defensive rotation.

Why the Packers Need Reinforcement

With Parsons sidelined, the Packers' edge-rushing depth is thin. Lukas Van Ness has just 8.5 sacks in three seasons, and rookie Dani Dennis-Sutton is considered a limited pass-rusher. NFL Network’s Matt Okada suggests Haason Reddick as a viable option to bolster the defense until Parsons returns.

Haason Reddick: A Familiar Face

Reddick, a two-time Pro Bowler, had a standout season in 2022 under Packers defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon, recording 16 sacks. Though his production has dipped since leaving Philadelphia, a reunion with Gannon could reignite his pass-rushing prowess. If Parsons returns at full strength, a Parsons-Reddick duo could become one of the NFL’s most formidable pass-rushing tandems.

Parsons’ Ambitious Goal

Despite his injury setback, Parsons remains optimistic about his future. He aims to break Myles Garrett’s single-season sack record of 23, set in 2025. Parsons believes he can achieve this milestone within the next two years, provided he stays healthy and maintains his elite form.
