Mo Farah Launches RunGP to Shake Up Running

2026-06-23 · Mo Farah · Player Focus

Mo Farah is set to launch RunGP, a new team-based running series, on May 9-10, at the Lusail International Circuit in Doha.

RunGP is the flagship series of the Global Running League, held on Formula One circuits, aiming to integrate pro athletes, influencers, and celebrity-backed squads.

The series brings a fresh format to the sport, with live GPS-driven biometrics and a team-based competition.

Mo Farah, the double-double Olympic gold medallist, has been searching for a new outlet since his retirement from racing, and RunGP offers him a chance to leave his mark on the sport.

Farah believes athletics needs innovation and new energy, and RunGP is his attempt to make running exciting again.

The inaugural RunGP will feature four teams of seven runners each, competing at the RunGP Qatar Final, with plans to expand to 10 teams in later races.

Runners of all levels can participate in the RunGP Qatar 7.032, a 7.032km race, before the main event.

Mo Farah and Marcel Muenster, the CEO of Global Running League, hope to revolutionize the sport and bring engagement throughout Olympic cycles.

The series will be streamed live through DAZN, and the first event will take place on May 9-10, at the Lusail International Circuit in Doha.

As Mo Farah **boldly** attempts to shake up running, he faces competition from Michael Johnson's Grand Slam Track, set to launch in Jamaica next month.

Mo Farah's coaching licence and events, such as One Mo Mile, have kept him involved in the sport, but RunGP is his chance to connect with people and make a difference.

The sport of running has struggled to translate its growing grassroots participation into a compelling television product or a thriving business model.

RunGP aims to change this, with its innovative format and integration of pro athletes, influencers, and celebrity-backed squads.

The series will bring a new level of excitement to the sport, with live GPS-driven biometrics and a team-based competition.

Mo Farah's involvement in RunGP is a significant development, as he brings his experience and expertise to the series.

The inaugural RunGP is set to take place on May 9-10, and fans can expect a thrilling competition, with the best runners in the world competing in a unique and innovative format.
