Mo Farah Speaks Out on Family Safety

2026-06-23 · Mo Farah · Player Focus

Mo Farah says his children are much safer in Qatar than London, highlighting the differences in safety between the two cities.

He made this comment during an interview, where he also discussed his athletic career and retirement.

Sir Mo Farah is Britain's greatest ever track athlete, with a record of four Olympic golds and six world championship golds.

His tactic of sitting mid-pack and then sprinting to the finish, known as "sit-and-kick", was highly effective, allowing him to close 10,000m races with a sub-53-second 400m.

He retired in September 2023, after a career that included winning gold in the 5,000m and 10,000m at the London 2012 Olympics.

Mo Farah is now aged 42 and barely manages 15km of running per week, a significant decrease from his previous 240km per week.

He still looks fit, wearing his full tangerine-orange Nike running kit, and has a cheerful confidence that has made him a popular figure.

As of today, he remains the British record holder for several events, including the 3,000m, two miles, and the marathon.

Mo Farah doesn't care about records, but he has done well in that department, with his achievements enshrining him in national legend.

He used to get criticism for not going after fast times, but instead focusing on winning medals.

But with 14 British records, including the 10,000m and the marathon, he has proven himself to be one of the greatest distance athletes of all time.

And with his legacy continuing to inspire, Mo Farah remains a beloved figure in the world of track and field athletics.

He has found himself running from a lot of things over the course of his extraordinary life, including war and a bleak domestic situation.

But running is where he feels comfortable, like he is himself, and it has brought him great success.

Mo Farah's energy is still high, bouncing through a café and announcing "Hi, hi, good morning!" to a startled crowd.

His smile is famous and near-permanent, and he has a way of lighting up rooms, especially classrooms.

Mo Farah's career has been marked by his determination and hard work, and he continues to be an inspiration to many.
