Naomi Osaka Sends Heartfelt Thanks to Fans After Wimbledon Loss

Naomi Osaka sends a touching message to her fans after her Wimbledon loss, expressing gratitude for their unwavering support throughout the grass-court season. The four-time Grand Slam champion also highlighted how the season had developed her as a player, while allowing her to hit some personal bests along the way. After upsetting World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the round of 16, Osaka advanced to her maiden Wimbledon quarterfinal, where she lost to the 10th-seeded Karolina Muchova in straight sets 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 on Tuesday. Following the loss, Osaka took to her Threads account and expressed appreciation for her fans:

"I just wanted to say thank you everyone for the support during this grass season 🌱❤️ I learned a lot, had fun and made a couple personal bests. Thank you!"

Fans responded cheerfully to the Japanese star’s message, praising her resilience and wishing her all the best for her upcoming endeavors. Some of Osaka’s most memorable moments at Wimbledon this year were her first-round fashion statement, her first victory over Aryna Sabalenka, and her maiden Wimbledon quarterfinal appearance.

The Japanese started her grass season with a dominant run at Bad Homburg, where she reached the final, her first ever on the surface. She won every match in straight sets before retiring in the final against Karolina Muchova. Osaka then showed up at Wimbledon and won her first four matches in straight sets. This included a 6-2, 7-6 (2) win over Aryna Sabalenka. She faced Muchova once again, but again fell to the Czech in straight sets. Osaka’s Round of 16 win against Sabalenka helped the Japanese garner a significant milestone, as she has now secured her first-ever win against the World No. 1. Regardless, Sabalenka still leads their head-to-head 3-1.
