Naomi Osaka has booked her place in the quarterfinals at the 2026 Wimbledon Championships. She defeated world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka 6-2, 7-6(2) in the fourth round.

The shift in mindset came after her crushing 6-2, 6-1 loss to Iga Świątek at this year’s Italian Open.

Naomi Osaka felt ashamed of her immediate reaction to the defeat, flying home without speaking to her coaching team.

Osaka began to view tennis as a job rather than the most important thing in her life. She told herself to enjoy the time she has and treasure tennis without putting too much importance on it.

The four-time Grand Slam champion has her daughter, Shai, by her side at Wimbledon.

Naomi Osaka will face No. 10 seed Karolína Muchová in the quarterfinals, a rematch of their Bad Homburg Open final, which ended in a mid-match retirement for Osaka due to a foot injury.

The winner will face either Coco Gauff or Jessica Pegula in the semifinals.
