Nathan MacKinnon Named Hart Trophy Finalist

Nathan MacKinnon is a Hart Trophy finalist, the NHL announced, after a stellar season with 53 goals and 127 points.

The Colorado Avalanche forward is one of three finalists, alongside Nikita Kucherov and Connor McDavid.

The Hart Memorial Trophy is awarded annually to the player deemed most valuable to their team, as voted by the Professional Hockey Writers Association.

Nathan MacKinnon finished the season with a career-high 53 goals and 74 assists.

He led the league with 97 even-strength points, the most since Jaromir Jagr in 1995-96.

The Colorado Avalanche had a historic season, finishing with a record of 55-16-11 for 121 points.

This is Nathan MacKinnon's fifth time as a Hart Trophy finalist, and he looks to secure his second trophy since winning in the 2024-25 season.

The Colorado Avalanche's power play struggles limited Nathan MacKinnon to 30 power-play points, his lowest total since the 2021-22 season.

And he still managed to finish the season with 127 points, tied for third in assists.

But the Avalanche's franchise record for most points in a single season was broken, with 121 points.

So Nathan MacKinnon's impressive season helped the team secure the Presidents Trophy.
