Oliver Bearman responds to Red Bull seat speculation at Spa

Oliver Bearman has admitted he was flattered by reports linking him to a Red Bull seat, but insisted his focus remains on Haas and Ferrari. The 20-year-old spoke to GPBlog at Spa on 16 July 2026 after Sky Sports commentator David Croft suggested Red Bull could be an option if his Ferrari path stalls.

What happened?

Croft argued that Laurent Mekies’ longstanding ties to Bearman-dating back to his Ferrari junior programme move-could help the Briton if his Ferrari race seat remains blocked. Mekies signed Bearman to the Ferrari Academy in 2024, a move that helped propel him to Formula 1.

Bearman told GPBlog the speculation was “just rumours,” adding: “It’s quite flattering to hear things like that. A team like Red Bull has been incredibly successful, so to be linked with them in any way, even if it’s just rumours, is very nice.” He stressed his current focus is on Haas, where he drives this season.

Why it matters for Oliver Bearman

Bearman’s future remains uncertain. He told GPBlog: “At the moment I don’t have a contract for next year. Just waiting in the dark.” His path to Ferrari’s race seat is unclear, though he remains hopeful after Ferrari backed him since his Formula 3 days.

The Briton’s ties to Ferrari run deep. Mekies signed him to the academy, and Ferrari gave him his 2024 debut. Bearman said: “Ferrari have trusted me from the very beginning in Formula 3. And put me in that car in 2024 as well, and really the reason that I’m here right now.”

What comes next?

Bearman insists strong performances at Haas are his priority. “At the moment I’m enjoying what I’m doing with Haas, and the faster I can go now, the easier I make my life in the future,” he said. His next race comes at Spa, where he’ll aim to build momentum for 2027.

The Red Bull link adds intrigue to his career trajectory. But for now, Bearman’s focus is simple: deliver results at Haas and keep his options open.
