Paddy Pimblett claims GOAT status for weight cutting after UFC win

2026-07-21 · Paddy Pimblett · Player Focus

Paddy Pimblett has declared himself the greatest of all time at cutting weight after another flawless UFC performance.

On 19 July at UFC 329, Pimblett submitted Benoit Saint-Denis in the first round. The win extended his UFC record to 10-1, with every fight ending in a finish.

What did Pimblett say?

Pimblett posted a behind-the-scenes video on his YouTube channel showing his entire weight-cut process. In it, he said: “I am the GOAT of weight cutting.” He stressed discipline and mental strength as the keys to his success.

“You’ve got to be disciplined all the way through camp. Every single time I step in that cage I make weight,” Pimblett added. “I think everyone needs to shut the f- up about my weight, lad. No b--- is the number one rule, lad. If you start b--- during the weight cut, it’s over.”

Why it matters for Paddy Pimblett

The 31-year-old has faced constant criticism over his rapid weight gain outside camp. Yet he keeps making 155 lbs without issue and looks sharp on the scales. His latest win proved he can still perform after a career-high weight jump following his first UFC loss to Justin Gaethje in March.

Pimblett’s ability to cut without drama sets him apart from rivals. It also keeps him in the lightweight title conversation.

What comes next?

Pimblett is one more big win away from a shot at the undisputed lightweight strap. Dana White confirmed after UFC 329 that Mobland producers asked for Pimblett to join their show. The acting debut adds to his growing star power.

With a 100% make-weight record and a first-round finish streak, Pimblett’s next fight will likely draw massive interest. His next opponent remains unannounced.
