Pat Cummins Welcomes Baby Girl

Pat Cummins and his wife Becky have welcomed their second child, a baby girl named Edi.

The Australian cricket captain and his wife shared the first pictures of their new baby on Instagram, revealing they had already taken her to Bronte Beach.

The couple posted a black-and-white photo of Becky holding Edi, with the caption: “She’s here. Our beautiful baby girl, Edi words can’t describe how overjoyed & full of love we feel right now.”

Cummins did not tour to Sri Lanka with the Australian team as he waited for baby No.2, and has been battling an ankle injury which has placed him in serious doubt for the Australia’s Champions Trophy campaign that begins on February 19.

The break from the action is undoubtedly welcome news for the couple, who revealed in a book, Tested, the challenges they faced when Albie arrived and Pat had just been named captain of the Australian team.

At the end of last year, Becky said she had to let Pat captain the team, as she was physically and mentally exhausted after giving birth to Albie.

Pat has previously said he is in awe of his wife and her ability to instinctively make the right decisions, allowing him to chase his dream and captain Australia.

And Pat has credited Becky for his success, saying “I recognise now that it’s only Becky’s love, strength and sacrifice that I can continue touring, playing and succeeding as I have been.”

The couple has been together for 11 years, after Becky made a trip to Sydney from the UK.

So, Cummins is now a father of two, with Albie and Edi, and is expected to return to cricket soon, with the Champions Trophy campaign starting on February 19.

But for now, the Australian cricket captain is enjoying time with his family, and has shared his joy with his fans on social media.

Cummins said playing cricket all year round, year after year, had its challenges when children were on the scene, but he is better now at putting a day’s play to one side and then going straight into dad and family mode.

The posts were immediately flooded with messages of congratulations from sporting stars from Australia and around the world.

And Cummins' fans have been waiting for the news, with one fan saying “Congratulations gorgeous name too xx,” and another saying “Congratulations!!!! We have been holding our breath waiting for the news! What a beautiful girl. Can’t wait to meet her x.”
