Pedro Acosta Faces New KTM Issues at Assen MotoGP

2026-06-27 · Pedro Acosta · Player Focus

Pedro Acosta encountered new KTM issues at the Assen MotoGP, suffering two technical problems on Saturday morning.

The Spanish rider qualified eighth at Assen, despite a sensor problem that recurred in the same place.

The issues followed last weekend’s Czech Grand Prix problems that culminated in a retirement from the race on Sunday on the final lap.

Acosta says that those he had on Saturday at Assen were ones he had not encountered before, making it difficult to prepare for the Sprint race.

He needs to maintain trust in KTM to fix the problems, especially when it comes to safety.

The 22-year-old is targeting a top-five finish, but feels KTM is “really far” from being able to achieve its objectives.

He will focus on preparing for the race in the warm-up, hoping to start well and avoid mistakes.

Pedro Acosta ran wide at turn seven in the early laps and dropped to 14th before recovering to ninth in the end.

The lack of laps in the morning resulted in a compromised Sprint, making it difficult for Acosta to be prepared.

Aki Ajo, the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team manager, reported a sensor problem that recurred in the same place.

Acosta is announced as a 2027 factory Ducati rider, but his current focus is on solving the KTM issues.

He is uninterested in apologies from KTM, instead wanting the problems to be solved and not happen again.

The Spanish rider finished the Sprint race in ninth place, but is looking to improve his performance.

Pedro Acosta's KTM reliability misery continued at the Assen MotoGP, affecting his chances of a top-five finish.

He will look to bounce back in the next race, hoping to solve the technical issues and achieve his target.
