Pedro Acosta Returns After Carpal Tunnel Surgery for German GP

Pedro Acosta is back on track after a rapid wrist operation. The 22‑year‑old Spanish rider had surgery on 27 Jun to treat carpal tunnel syndrome and is slated to line up for the German Grand Prix on 10 Jul, KTM announced.

Acosta retired from the Dutch Grand Prix at Assen when his right hand went numb while duelling with Marc Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia for fourth place. He later explained that three fingers had lost feeling, making brake control impossible. The team confirmed the issue was not arm‑pump but a wrist problem, and scheduled surgery immediately.

Within 48 hours of the retirement, Acosta underwent a minor procedure on his right wrist. The surgeon wrapped the limb in a light cast, and the rider posted a photo from his hospital bed, giving a thumbs‑up and captioning it “all good”. A medical check next week will determine final clearance, but the plan targets a return at the Sachsenring.

Acosta entered the season as a Ducati factory rider for the next two years, yet he has struggled with reliability glitches on his KTM machine. At Assen he faced a throttle sensor fault that forced him to finish eighth in the sprint. The wrist issue adds another hurdle as he chases his first MotoGP win after several podiums.

KTM’s press release quoted the team’s technical director saying Acosta’s recovery is on track and that the rider will be fit for the 10‑12 Jul weekend, pending the upcoming medical review.
