Pierre Gasly Finishes Seventh in Barcelona

2026-06-23 · Pierre Gasly · Match Report

Pierre Gasly finished seventh in the Barcelona race, securing six points for BWT Alpine Formula One Team.

The French driver's controlled Sunday performance helped his team earn a total of seven points.

BWT Alpine Formula One Team started the weekend with a challenging Friday, struggling to find balance and pace.

The team's Alpine A526 cars lacked bite over one lap and struggled to preserve tyres as track temperature climbed.

Neither Pierre Gasly nor Franco Colapinto truly flirted with the top 10 during the first two sessions.

The work focused on stabilising the aerodynamic platform, understanding degradation, and exploiting tyre sets on fuel-heavy runs.

Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto set the thirteenth and fourteenth fastest times in qualifying, respectively.

The official qualifying classification credits Franco Colapinto with a 1:16.191 in Q2, compared with 1:16.261 for Pierre Gasly.

The result illustrated BWT Alpine Formula One Team's main current area of work: turning a single-seater capable of managing a race well into a sharper weapon over one lap.

And the team knows that Barcelona could offer a second reading on Sunday, provided the tyres were kept alive.

The points return remains positive, with sixth place in the Constructors’ Championship consolidated in a season where every opportunity seized in the midfield can carry serious weight.

So Pierre Gasly's seventh-place finish was a welcome result for the team.

But the team still needs to work on its qualifying performance to compete with the best cars in the midfield.

Pierre Gasly's performance earned him six points, while Franco Colapinto earned one point despite finishing tenth after a penalty.

The BWT Alpine Formula One Team will look to build on this result in the next race.
