Quinton de Kock Slams ICC Over Travel Inequality

2026-06-23 · Quinton de Kock · Opinion

Quinton de Kock has slammed the International Cricket Council over the unequal treatment of teams regarding travel arrangements after the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026.

The England cricket team is set to leave India on Saturday, just two days after their exit from the tournament, while South Africa and the West Indies have been waiting for longer.

Quinton de Kock expressed his frustration on Instagram Stories, stating that it's strange how different teams have more pull than others.

The situation has sparked concerns about the influence of powerful teams within the ICC, with former England captain Michael Vaughan also questioning the travel arrangements.

As of March 1, the West Indies have been waiting for about a week, and South Africa for three days, for charter flights arranged by the ICC to become available.

The ICC has organized charter flights for the teams, with South Africa and the West Indies expected to depart on Sunday, according to ESPNCricinfo.

The flights will travel first to Johannesburg, and then the West Indies will continue to Antigua.

And the frustration is visible, with West Indies head coach Daren Sammy posting "Day 6" on X, highlighting the team's prolonged wait in Kolkata.

But the exact timing of the departures has not been officially confirmed by the teams.

So the situation remains uncertain, with Quinton de Kock and other players awaiting clarity on their travel arrangements.

The Zimbabwe national cricket team also faced travel delays earlier in the tournament, departing India on March 4, after playing their final match against South Africa on March 1.
