Reece James Misses England Training

Reece James missed England's latest training session. The Chelsea defender is nursing a hamstring injury.

Jarell Quansah and Reece James were both absent from the session. Quansah had replaced James in the final Group L match against Panama.

Reece James picked up the hamstring injury and Quansah was forced off with an ankle issue. This has left manager Thomas Tuchel with a decision to make at right-back.

Djed Spence and Ezri Konsa are possible options to start at right-back. Declan Rice took part in Tuesday's session after managing his workload due to a back issue.

Reece James and Quansah are following their own individual programmes. They are not expected to be involved when England start their knockout campaign.

The England squad trained at Swope Soccer Village on Tuesday. A statement on England's X account confirmed James and Quansah's absence.

Tuchel must also decide on his wide options. Bukayo Saka made his first start of the tournament against Panama.

Noni Madueke and Anthony Gordon will be hoping for another chance to impress. Eberechi Eze or Morgan Rogers could also be considered.

England's round-of-32 World Cup match is on Wednesday. They will face the Democratic Republic of Congo in Atlanta.

The match will be played at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. England secured top spot in their group with a 2-0 win over Panama.
