Rodri Hernandez Faces Uncertain Man City Future

2026-06-24 · Rodri Hernandez · Player Focus

Rodri Hernandez's future at Manchester City is uncertain, according to his father Antonio Hernandez, despite the midfielder's return to regular action.

Rodri Hernandez overcame the worst of his injury issues to feature regularly again for Manchester City.

He won the Ballon d'Or in 2024, having been instrumental to Man City's success as well as La Roja's Euros triumph.

The Spain international spent the majority of last season sidelined with an ACL injury.

He is now featuring regularly again for City, though there are suggestions the 29-year-old may leave the club, with his deal up in 2027.

Real Madrid are among the teams linked with a move for Rodri Hernandez.

Antonio Hernandez added fuel to the fire, despite saying his son is comfortable at City.

He joked, "If I told you, I'd have to kill you," when quizzed about his son's next move.

Rodri Hernandez has made 10 league starts this season, playing 14 times in total, since the start of the 2023-24 season, in which City won the treble.

He has missed 53 Premier League matches, with City winning 31 of those, and a league win rate with Rodri Hernandez in the team of 71.3% (62 wins from 87 matches).

Rodri Hernandez is eager to go to the World Cup, training really well, and his family has absolute confidence in him.

He came back to playing and in his first match, he was almost the same Rodri Hernandez he used to be.

Now his family is asking him to manage his efforts to get back into form and be ready for the World Cup.

Rodri Hernandez's father knows nothing about his son's future plans, saying "history has yet to be written".

The midfielder's future at Manchester City remains uncertain, with negotiations ongoing.
