Rodri Eyes Potential Move to Real Madrid Amid Contract Talks
Rodri has admitted "you cannot turn down the best clubs in the world" when questioned about a potential move to Real Madrid in the future.
The Spain international is contracted until 2027 at Manchester City, but the club wants him to stay and agree a new deal.
Rodri joined City from Atletico Madrid in 2019 and has since established himself as one of the top midfielders in world football.
He has made 293 appearances for City, scoring 28 goals and adding 32 assists, and has won four Premier League titles, one FA Cup, three League Cups, one Club World Cup, and the Champions League.
Rodri's current contract expires in the summer of 2027, and City prefers to keep him.
The midfielder said: "I have a year left on my contract, there will come a point when we'll have to sit down and talk."
He did not rule out playing for Real Madrid simply because he has previously played for rivals Atletico.
Rodri has been recovering from a serious knee injury, which is one reason there haven't been in-depth talks about extending his contract.
He admitted he would one day like to return to LaLiga, where he started his career.
The player's agent handles discussions about his future, and Rodri said: "They speak to my agent."
Rodri's comments come as he prepares to face Serbia and Egypt in friendlies over the next two weeks.
He is a key player for Man City, and the club wants to secure his future.
As of Thursday, 26 March 2026, Rodri's future remains uncertain.
