Roger Federer Names His Top Tennis Players

Roger Federer named Stefan Edberg as his greatest tennis player of all time.

Federer spent 237 consecutive weeks at the top of the ATP rankings and claimed 20 Grand Slam singles titles.

Edberg remains Federer's personal GOAT, with six Grand Slam titles and a successful defense of his US Open title in 1991 and 1992.

Boris Becker was next on Federer's list, with a defining achievement at Wimbledon in 1985, aged just 17 years, seven months, and 15 days.

Becker's explosive athleticism and powerful groundstrokes earned him the nickname "Boom Boom".

Federer formed a coaching partnership with Stefan Edberg between 2014 and 2015, making Edberg's influence on Federer's career clear.

Federer said: "For me, I needed my GOAT, people who were on the wall at home, and I wanted to be like them. For me, that was Stefan Edberg, Swedish guy."

Federer's triumph at the 2009 French Open completed his career Grand Slam, with Edberg and Becker serving as inspirations throughout his career.

Federer collected 103 ATP titles, with only Jimmy Connors finishing his career with more, before retiring in 2022.
