Roger Federer Surpassed By Novak Djokovic In Wimbledon Wins

Roger Federer's Wimbledon record has been surpassed by Novak Djokovic, who won his 106th career match at the tournament.

Djokovic defeated Russian qualifier Roman Safiullin 7-6(6), 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 on July 5, 2026.

Roger Federer had previously held the record with 105 wins.

Federer won Wimbledon eight times, and Djokovic is now bidding to tie him.

Djokovic extended his record of 66 Grand Slam quarterfinals.

Djokovic will face No. 3 seed Felix Auger-Aliassime in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.

If he wins, he could face world No. 1 and defending champion Jannik Sinner in the semis.

Sinner leads Djokovic 6-5, but the Serb beat the Italian in the Australian Open semis in January.

Andy Roddick said, "You have to like the chances that we see a Novak and Sinner semifinal."

The match was not smooth for Djokovic, who came back from 2-5 down in the opening set to win it in a tiebreak.

He then went up two sets to love, but received an audible obscenity warning in the third set.

Djokovic apologized for his outbursts in the post-match interview with Annabel Croft.

He went up a quick break for 3-0 in the fourth set and closed it out with a serve and volley winner.

Djokovic has 100+ wins at three of the four majors and 95 career wins at the U.S. Open.

He can get to 100 wins at the U.S. Open later this summer.

Safiullin will take home $402,563 after earning $198,732 in the first six months of 2026 coming into Wimbledon.
