Ryan Blaney wins EchoPark Texas Grand Prix in wild overtime thriller

Ryan Blaney stormed to victory at the EchoPark Texas Grand Prix on 12 July 2026, edging out Kyle Larson in a frantic overtime duel that saw six cautions and three red flags.

Blaney led 19 laps and held off Larson’s late charge in a five-lap shootout after the race restarted under caution. The finish came under green-white-checker conditions after a late crash collected Chase Elliott and Tyler Reddick. Blaney’s No. 6 Ford crossed the line 0.532 seconds ahead of Larson’s No. 5 Chevrolet.

The win ends a 28-race winless streak for Blaney, who had finished runner-up four times this season. It’s his 12th career Cup Series victory and first on a 1.5-mile intermediate track. The result keeps him sixth in the points standings, 148 points behind leader Denny Hamlin.

Blaney started 11th and used pit strategy to work into contention. He took the lead on Lap 142 of 240, but Larson reclaimed it on Lap 220. Blaney’s team now turns to the 20 Jul race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The win moves him closer to a playoff spot, but he’ll need consistency to climb into the top 16. Next up: a short-track test at Atlanta on 15 Jul before the July 20 showdown.
