Ryan Blaney Wins Quaker State 400 in Overtime at EchoPark Speedway

Ryan Blaney won the Quaker State 400 at EchoPark Speedway on 12 Jul 2026, leading 171 of 263 laps and clinching victory in overtime after a dramatic final lap battle. The 32-year-old Team Penske driver claimed his second win of the season and Ford’s 750th NASCAR Cup Series triumph.

Blaney started on the pole and swept both stages before a three-hour red flag halted the race on lap 108 due to weather. When racing resumed, he fought through a chaotic final stretch. Carson Hocevar led under the white flag, but Blaney surged past him on the last lap with help from Christopher Bell’s push. Bell finished second by just .068 seconds after Bubba Wallace was penalized for going below the yellow line during the final restart.

Blaney relied on precise drafting and teamwork, especially from Bell, who stayed glued to his bumper through turns three and four. He credited Bubba Wallace for strong pushes on restarts, saying they hooked up perfectly down the front straightaway. The No. 12 Ford held off a three-wide finish involving Hocevar, Ty Gibbs, and Erik Jones, who rounded out the top five.

This win marks Blaney’s first since Phoenix in March and extends Ford’s winning streak to six consecutive Cup Series races. His 171 laps led at EchoPark Speedway is the most by a race winner at a drafting track since Richard Petty led 184 in the 1964 Daytona 500. It also solidifies his position as a title contender after winning the 2024 championship.

Blaney now leads all drivers in laps led this season and sits high in the playoff standings. With momentum building, Team Penske will head to the next superspeedway event at Daytona, where drafting strategy and restarts could again decide the outcome. Hocevar, who finished third, remains a threat after his Talladega win in April.
