Ryan Blaney Wins Thrilling Atlanta Race at 2 a.m. After Rain Delay

Ryan Blaney won the NASCAR Cup Series race at Atlanta’s EchoPark Speedway on 13 Jul 2026 at 2 a.m. local time, surviving a three-hour rain delay and a chaotic three-wide finish to claim his first victory of the season.

Blaney led 171 laps: the most at a drafting-style track since Richard Petty in 1964: but looked poised to lose at the white flag. Carson Hocevar surged ahead, but Blaney and Bubba Wallace closed in three-wide. Wallace dipped below the double yellow line, triggering a post-race penalty that dropped him to 29th. Blaney crossed the line first as Hocevar finished second.

This win breaks a 12-race winless streak and vaults Blaney into the top five in the championship standings. His 171 laps led at Atlanta’s reconfigured 1.5-mile track are the most ever on a modern drafting circuit. Blaney’s team now heads to Bristol Motor Speedway next weekend, where he finished third last year. With momentum building and his Ford Mustang Dark Horse performing strongly on intermediate tracks, he’s a favorite for the upcoming playoff push. The win also gives his crew chief, Jeremy Bullins, his 10th career victory as a lead strategist.
