Seth Rollins Declines Finn Balor's Request
Seth Rollins declined Finn Balor's request to switch the finish of their 2016 SummerSlam match.
Finn Balor was called up from NXT to RAW in 2016 and earned the opportunity to challenge Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship at SummerSlam.
The bout was competitive, but a buckle bomb by Rollins on the ring barricade left Balor's shoulder injured.
Balor suffered a torn labrum and dislocation but managed to finish the match and win the Universal Title.
The next night on RAW, he was forced to relinquish the Championship due to injury.
Finn Balor returned after spending nearly seven months out of action, and his short Title reign remains one of the biggest what-ifs in WWE history.
During an interview on *INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet*, Balor mentioned that he has never gone back and rewatched the match.
He said they had to call the spots on the fly after the injury.
Seth Rollins is an absolute pro, and they were able to communicate and edit spots.
Finn Balor then revealed that during the match, he asked Rollins whether they could switch the original finish and have The Architect walk out as Champion.
However, Rollins turned down his request, saying 'No, stick to the plan.'
Finn Balor often wonders what that would have done for his career if they had switched the finish.
In another incident, Finn Balor's WWE alter ego, The Demon, is known for its body paint and menacing presence.
Things went wrong during the Super ShowDown event in Saudi Arabia in 2019 when he used hairspray instead of paint.
The hairspray ran into his eyes and burned his retinas, leaving him unable to see.
A doctor helped him with some medication during a refuel stop on the flight back to the US.
Finn Balor said that this was the scariest thing that’s ever happened to him in wrestling.
