Sha'Carri Richardson Competes in Lucrative Athlos Meet

2026-06-23 · Sha'Carri Richardson · Player Focus

Sha'Carri Richardson will compete in the Athlos all-female athletics meeting in London on 18 September.

The event, founded by Alexis Ohanian, will feature a star-studded lineup, including Richardson and Paris Games 200m winner Gabby Thomas.

Athlos is an all-female track and field athletics meeting, with the London event being the latest addition to the series.

Ohanian, who is married to tennis legend Serena Williams, aims to create a 'F1 for track and field' experience.

The London event will take place at StoneX Stadium, with a 10,500-capacity crowd expected to attend.

Richardson, the 2023 100m world champion and 2024 Olympic silver medallist, will compete for a prize pot of $2.1m.

Athletes can earn up to $65,000 in each individual event, with overall champions receiving an additional $25,000.

This means Richardson could pocket $155,000 if she wins in both London and New York.

Ohanian plans to expand Athlos into a worldwide, season-long league, with discussions already underway with World Athletics.

The London event will feature seven disciplines, including the 100m hurdles, 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, mile, and long jump.

Richardson will face stiff competition from other top athletes, but the prize pot and potential for equity in the league make it an exciting opportunity.

The athletes will compete for a prize pot of $2.1m, with the overall champion determined by combined points.

Ohanian has invested heavily in Athlos, with his venture capital firm Seven Seven Six having assets of $900m.

As the founder of Athlos, Ohanian is **determined** to make the league a success, with the London event being a key step towards achieving his goal.
