Stephen Curry Leaves Under Armour After 12 Years

2026-06-29 · Stephen Curry · Player Focus

Stephen Curry has walked away from Under Armour after 12 years. In June 2026, he announced a 10-year partnership with Chinese shoe brand Li-Ning, reportedly worth $400 million.

Stephen Curry joined Under Armour in 2013 on a $4 million-per-year deal. He quickly justified his value by becoming the best player in the league, winning the MVP Award and the NBA Championship.

In 2015, Under Armour extended Curry's deal to $20 million per year. They launched a subsidiary, Curry Brand, in November 2020. In 2023, Under Armour offered Curry a lifetime deal worth $1 billion.

Curry and his team were frustrated by Under Armour's underinvestment and its inability to sign WNBA phenom Caitlin Clark. Although neither Curry nor Under Armour has clearly stated why they split, they released a joint statement saying it was the best decision for both parties.

Under Armour believed in Curry early in his career and gave him the space to build something bigger than a shoe. Curry expressed gratitude for Under Armour's support and is looking forward to developing his brand.

Despite their separation, Under Armour released the Curry 13 in February 2026, marking the end of a 12-year partnership. Curry retains his brand's assets, including the splash logo. He is excited for a future focused on aggressive growth and a sustained commitment to supporting the next generation.

Curry's decision to leave Under Armour has sparked interest in his new partnership with Li-Ning. The deal is reportedly worth $400 million over 10 years. Curry is optimistic about his new partnership and is looking forward to building his brand with Li-Ning.
