Stephen Curry’s Twilight Years Demand Action, Analyst Urges Warriors to Act Before 2026 Season

2026-07-13 · Stephen Curry · Opinion

Stephen Curry’s final competitive years demand immediate roster upgrades, NBA analyst Jason Timpf warned as the Golden State Warriors remained idle through the 2026 offseason. With Curry entering his 38th year and the team missing the playoffs twice in the last three seasons, Timpf called the front office’s silence unacceptable.

Jason Timpf, a veteran analyst on The Volume, criticized the Warriors for failing to improve their roster despite having multiple draft picks and cap flexibility. He pointed to the failed LeBron James-Antoine Davis trade scenario as a missed opportunity, noting that even without landing those stars, the team could have pursued smaller but impactful additions like Trey Murphy.

Curry, a four-time NBA MVP, has carried the Warriors through three straight Play-In appearances since their 2022 title. His production remains elite, but the supporting cast has aged or underperformed. Timpf stressed that this isn’t about rebuilding-it’s about honoring a generational talent by giving him one last realistic shot at contention.

The Warriors have added De’Anthony Melton and Al Horford, and traded for Jimmy Butler and Kristaps Porziņģis, yet Timpf called those moves insufficient. He argued that holding onto draft capital while Curry’s window closes is a strategic failure. Without a meaningful upgrade, the team risks ending Curry’s career with another early exit and fan disillusionment.

Timpf didn’t demand a championship-he demanded effort. ‘Even if you don’t get LeBron, like, if you go get Trey Murphy and you don’t get LeBron, you’re better this year,’ he said. The message was clear: do something, anything, before it’s too late. The clock is ticking on one of the NBA’s greatest eras, and the Warriors are running out of time.
