Tadej Pogacar Wins Fourth Tour de France Title

2026-06-23 · Tadej Pogacar · Player Focus

Tadej Pogacar won his fourth Tour de France title, taking him equal with Chris Froome.

He also defended the rainbow jersey, making him the first man to win the Tour-worlds double in two successive years.

Pogacar achieved a record-equalling fifth victory at Il Lombardia, and a record-setting fifth consecutive win.

This unprecedented feat makes him a generational talent in road cycling.

He has 10 monument wins, halfway to matching Eddy Merckx's record of 19.

Pogacar could attempt the unprecedented grand tour triple in one calendar year, having already won the Tour de France four times.

He is 27 and appears to be only getting better, with a chance to earn revenge over Jonas Vingegaard in Le Lioran.

Pogacar's team would likely not let him skip the Tour de France, the fundamental building block of his legacy.

The 2024 route is tailor-made to his strengths, with punchy stages and a climber-friendly time trial.

And he has the chance to stand alone with the most Tour de France titles, surpassing Jacques Anquetil, Miguel Indurain, Bernard Hinault, and Eddy Merckx.

But Pogacar recently called the Tour de France “a necessary evil” and was clearly world-weary after an especially gruelling edition of the race.

So he will need to keep going until at least 2028 to achieve his goals.

Pogacar has 21 Tour de France stage wins, threatening Mark Cavendish's record of 35.

He will no doubt chase Milan San-Remo until he lifts that trophy too.

The Vuelta a Espana is the only grand tour he has yet to conquer.
