Tiger Woods nets $10.6M exit from Full Swing sale to Golf Channel owner

Tiger Woods is walking away with a nine-figure payday from an old bet on golf tech. Full Swing, the simulator company he backed and promoted for a decade, has been sold to the owner of the Golf Channel for about $530 million.

What happened?

The deal hands Tiger Woods and his fellow investors a windfall. Woods held roughly a 1%-2% stake in Full Swing when he invested in 2015. After the acquisition, his stake is worth close to $10.6 million. The sale is expected to close in the second half of 2026, pending regulatory clearance.

Why it matters for Tiger Woods

At 48, Tiger Woods is diversifying his empire beyond clubs and courses. Full Swing’s simulators power the tech-infused TGL golf competition, where virtual courses run on Full Swing’s hardware. The company’s products are also used by leading professionals, including Woods himself.

What comes next for Full Swing?

Versant Media Group, the new owner, plans to fold Full Swing into its broader sports push. The move aims to strengthen Golf Channel’s position in interactive golf and open new revenue streams in training, venues, and performance data. Versant sees Full Swing as a bridge between broadcast and digital experiences.

Bigger picture in golf media

The sale arrives as Golf Channel’s domestic TV footprint shrinks. By the end of 2025, the network reached 49 million U.S. homes, down 22% from 62.7 million in December 2022. Versant’s strategy bets on virtual simulators to offset the decline in traditional pay-TV bundles.
