Leading jockey Tom Marquand has extended his contract with Bahrain Turf Club for a further two years, it has been announced. Marquand, firmly established as one of the world's leading riders, has been an ambassador for Bahrain Turf Club since 2021.

What happened?

Marquand has enjoyed big race success all over the world, including the Middle East, Europe, Hong Kong, Japan, Australia, and the US. Earlier this month, he added another Group One to his list of major victories when winning the Grand Prix de Paris at ParisLongchamp riding Maltese Cross.

Why it matters for Tom Marquand

Bahrain Turf Club racing and international relations director Ed Veale commented: "Tom has established himself as one of the world's leading jockeys, making him an outstanding ambassador for Bahrain Turf Club. His professionalism, international success, and reputation within the sport reflect the standards and ambitions we have for racing in Bahrain."

What comes next?

In recent years, the multiple Group One-winning jockey has strengthened his partnership with the kingdom through his sponsorship contract with Bahrain Turf Club. "I am delighted and grateful to extend the sponsorship with Bahrain," said Marquand. "They are excellent partners and it has been exciting to witness the growth of racing in Bahrain during my time as ambassador, as highlighted by the promotion of the Bahrain International Trophy to a Group One this year."

Marquand has become a welcome and regular visitor to Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) in Bahrain, including when riding two winners at the 2026 Crown Prince's Cup Festival. The first of these was in the navy and white colours of Al Adiyat Racing when guiding home Up The Pace in the Hawar Cup, part of the Bahrain Turf Series.

Marquand carried the same navy and white silks to victory on Economics, owned by Prime Minister's Court Minister and REHC High Committee chairman Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa in the 2024 running of the Group One Royal Bahrain Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown.

The future of Tom Marquand

With this extension, Marquand will continue to be a key figure in Bahrain Turf Club's racing ambitions. His professionalism and international success make him an outstanding ambassador for the club, and his partnership with the kingdom will undoubtedly continue to grow in the coming years.
