Tommy Paul Wins Second Stockholm Title, Boosts ATP Finals Hopes
Tommy Paul won his second Stockholm title, defeating Grigor Dimitrov 6-4, 6-3, in the final on Sunday.
The American tennis player, seeded fourth, didn't lose a set throughout the week, topping Dimitrov in one hour and 25 minutes.
He is the 12th man, and fifth American, to win multiple titles in Stockholm since the event began in 1969.
This win is critical in Paul's hopes for qualifying for the season-ending ATP Finals in Turin, Italy, which will be held next month.
He now sits 495 points behind eighth-place Andrey Rublev for the final qualifying spot.
Paul will play at the ATP 500 in Vienna next week, while Rublev is in action in Basel, Switzerland.
Tommy Paul will look to continue his strong performance in Vienna, as he aims to secure a spot in the ATP Finals.
He has previously triumphed indoors in Dallas in February and at the Queen's Club on grass in June.
Paul is the fourth man to win three or more ATP singles titles this season, joining Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, and Matteo Berrettini.
“I feel like every match I played a little bit better and better,” Paul said.
“Today I came out playing amazing, so I was definitely happy with the performance.”
The win in Stockholm is a special one for Paul, who got his first title in the city a few years ago.
He will look to build on this momentum as he heads into the final stretch of the season.
And with his current form, Paul is a strong contender for a spot in the ATP Finals.
But he will need to continue playing at a high level to secure his place.
So far, Paul has shown that he has the skills and determination to succeed at the top level.
As he heads into the next tournament, all eyes will be on him to see if he can keep up his strong performance.
