Tony Parker Signs Five Players to ASVEL
Tony Parker has confirmed the signings of Sylvain Francisco, Nick Weiler-Babb, Daniel Theis, Armoni Brooks, and Both Gach to ASVEL.
ASVEL has presented a projected €58 million operating budget and a €20 million player payroll for next season.
The report from BeBasket states that Parker has a “moral agreement” with ASVEL for the next ten years.
Parker told L’Équipe: “I wanted a franchise player, and Sylvain Francisco was at the top of my list. He truly has that French DNA.”
The signings reflect Parker's ambition to deliver the club's first European title.
Veteran coach Vincent Collet will join Parker's staff as offensive coordinator.
Parker said: “It’s a privilege and a chance to have Vincent Collet as an assistant. I couldn’t have dreamed of a better way to start.”
The new signings and coaching staff will look to establish ASVEL among Europe’s elite ahead of the proposed NBA Europe project.
ASVEL's budget would make it the biggest in the history of French basketball.
Parker's coaching contract is structured as a 2+3 deal, with the clear objective of delivering the club's first European title.
The signings are a significant step towards achieving this goal.
