Tyrese Haliburton Returns With Major Health Update

2026-06-29 · Tyrese Haliburton · Player Focus

Tyrese Haliburton is back on track after his heartbreaking Achilles tear in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals against the OKC Thunder.

He picked up a bad case of shingles, which caused him to gain weight, lose part of his eyebrow, and get swollen eyes while recovering from his Achilles tear.

On Sunday, Haliburton gave an encouraging update about his well-being, saying he is feeling great now and is working towards a return to the court next season.

Haliburton said he feels great, his body feels great, and he's able to do everything, feeling like a healthy NBA player.

He has regained his strength and shed about 10 pounds from his battles with shingles, and his right leg and Achilles tendon have completely healed.

The Pacers have undergone significant changes since their magical 2025 NBA playoff run, losing Myles Turner to the Milwaukee Bucks in free agency and trading away key pieces to acquire center Ivica Zubac.

Haliburton will play a new-look Pacers roster in his return, and he's excited to lead the team once more next season.

The last time he was on the court, Haliburton was an All-NBA Third Team player, putting up 18.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 9.2 assists, 1.4 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game, leading the Pacers to massive upsets in the Eastern Conference playoffs before falling flat against the Thunder after seven games in the NBA Finals.

Without Haliburton, the Pacers went from reaching the NBA Finals the previous year to finishing the 2025-26 season with the worst record in franchise history at 19-63.

The team also had bad luck in the draft lottery, falling to the No. 5 overall pick and surrendering their selection to the LA Clippers as part of the Ivica Zubac-Bennedict Mathurin deal.

Haliburton has returned to full 5-on-5 basketball activities and is seen to lead the Pacers once more next season.

He's just able to jump in and do things with the kids at his Carmel basketball camp without having to answer questions from the organization or anybody about his health, which means the world to him after the last 12 months.

Haliburton's return will be a significant boost to the Pacers, and he's excited to get back on the court and compete at the highest level.

The Pacers will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing season, and Haliburton's leadership will be crucial in their quest for success.

With his health update and return to basketball activities, Tyrese Haliburton is ready to take on the new season and lead the Indiana Pacers to victory.

The NBA world will be watching his progress closely, and fans are eager to see him back in action.

For now, Haliburton is focused on his recovery and preparation for the upcoming season, and he's excited to see what the future holds for him and the Pacers.

As he continues to work towards his return, Haliburton remains optimistic about his chances of leading the Pacers to success in the new season.

Only time will tell how the Pacers will perform with Haliburton back on the court, but one thing is certain - he's ready to give it his all and make a significant impact on the team's success.
