Rumors swirled ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix weekend suggesting Bottas’ place at Cadillac could be under threat. The Finn dismissed the reports as “completely unfounded,” calling them “complete bullshit” but adding that speculation is par for the course in F1. He stressed that both he and the team know his situation, with Cadillac immediately reassuring him the rumors were false.

Bottas told GPBlog: “It’s part of the sport. It’s not the first time I faced those kind of rumours, but it’s a bit of a shame that somebody just makes up complete bullshit. But that’s normal in this sport. And I know my situation, the team knows my situation, they support me 100 percent.”

The 36-year-old has faced driver-market noise before, but he insists this cycle is no different. He pointed to social media’s role in spreading inaccurate headlines, saying viral false claims are inevitable. Still, Bottas said he’s never worried because he trusts his contract and Cadillac’s backing.

He added: “The main thing is I know my situation and the team. Immediately when we saw the rumors, the team came to me that these are completely false. And I also know what my situation is. So that’s why it’s fine. And it’s nothing new in my career.”

So far this season, Bottas remains one of four drivers yet to score a point, tied with teammate Sergio Perez, Lance Stroll and Nico Hulkenberg. Cadillac’s steady stream of upgrades has pushed the squad closer to the midfield, but points remain elusive for Bottas and his rivals.

Bottas’ focus stays on performance, not speculation. He framed the rumors as a distraction all drivers face, adding: “For every driver at some point of their career, they’re going to go through things like this.”
